Bubble will release a Christmas EP (shared with The Black Halos) in early December. The new album "Rockets and Volcanoes" will be out in Japan on Nov 23rd as previously stated, and will be retitled "Idle Feel of Fame" for America & Europe, to be released Jan/Feb 2002 with a different track listing. Go to Planetbubble for more details.
Jan is busy with various recording projects. This includes re-cutting a couple of tracks and recording a few new ones with Drawing Down the Moon, and possible recording sessions in Michigan. Thanks to Stacy from Drawing Down the Moon, see this post on their message board.

An interview with Jan from the August 22nd, Delaware show is now up at kissonline.com
There is a review of the Voices of Metal show from July 14th featuring Vixen here.
I believe this was the last show with Janet & Roxy.
The new Bubble album will be out in Japan on Nov 23rd, with a slightly different version for America & Europe hopefully by Christmas.

Here's a message from Janet :
"I just wanted to take a minute to thank Vixen fans for keeping it alive for all these years! We all worked very hard to make this reunion effort a success, but it was not to be, and yes... it broke my heart. We've all been through a lot, and I will always have the deepest respect and love for my band mates.
For all of the beauty that music gives us, the music business can be a very ugly place. My current goal is to reacquaint myself with the sheer joy of music. No managers, no record companies... just me and a guitar."

There are some photos from the July 12th show at Oasis 160, Chicago at http://www.oasisonesixty.com/July/bleu.htm (This was one of the last shows featuring Roxy & Janet)

The band are planning to write / record some new material after the tour, the last date of which was Sept 2nd. They may play some more shows with the Voices of Metal in the fall.
August 27th 2001
Here's a statement from Roxy :
"I'm really saddened and disappointed by this as I'm sure our fans are.
Unfortunately, existing problems along with some new conflicts led to the breakdown.
I wanted to finish the tour with the reunion lineup, but it became clear that wasn't going to happen."
Also this from Eden, the keyboard player on the tour :
"The hard truth is and you can quote me is that there was a Vixen before Janet and Roxy and there
is now a Vixen after them. I cannot go into details but I will tell you that every effort was made to make the
reunion happen but it just didn't work out. The band is sounding better and better at
every show and the fans who come out will not be disappointed."
Eden was in Population 361 with Jan, and there is a page for his recording studio here : http://www.coreaudio.com/Main.html (It had some Vixen mp3s but these were not for public consumption, so had to be taken down).
There are some pictures from the Baraboo show here :
http://www.wxnut.net/famous.htm
The set list that the new line up is playing appears to be identical to the one given earlier except that Love Made Me replaces Bad Reputation. Although there do seem to be some shows where that is omitted and only 6 tracks are played.
August 20th 2001
Slight adjustment to the new members names, latest info I have is :
Lynn Louise Lowrey - Bass
Jenna - Vocals
Kat Kraft - Drums
There is a website for Lynn Louise Lowrey at http://www.geocities.com/lizzlizzardproductions/bandgirl.html
If anyone wants to know what may or may not have happened to cause the split they can check out the vixen1 mailing list.

Well that didn't last long. Vixen have undergone radical changes to the line up of the band. I have had a report from the Aug 15 show in Sedalia, MO. Jan is now the only member left from the "reunion" line up, and there are 3 at this moment unknowns on vocals, bass & drums. No announcement was made at the show as to the identity of the band members.
Some pictures from the show follow :
Thanks to Dwane for the info and pictures.
Also, I found a picture on the website of one of the venues they are due to be playing :
No, you ain't gonna be seeing this line up at the show .......

Vixen are featured as 'Band of the Day' on the Metal Edge website. The text from this piece follows. For the video interview that is referred to go to metaledgeonline.com
The reunited Vixen is on the road this summer with the Voices of Metal Tour, which resumes on June 22 in New Mexico (Texas dates last week had to be postponed due to floods in the area). The tour marks the first performances by the band in nearly a decade, and on June 8, the band warmed up for it with a club gig in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at the Metal Factory, which also was the first-ever live show with the new lineup of original members Roxy Petrucci (drums), Janet Gardner (vocals), Jan Kuehnemund (guitar) and new bassist Pat Holloway. Before the show, Petrucci confided that the quartet's "first rehearsal was a little rough, just a little rusty, but once we started playing the familiar songs it came right back." And indeed, these women rocked hard at their inaugural engagement, playing audience pleasers like "Rev it Up," "Love is a Killer," "Bad Reputation," and "Edge of a Broken Heart." The reunion was set in motion last fall when Kuehnemund called Petrucci, who now lives in Detroit, and Gardner, who'd moved to Connecticut. "I'd been playing in a couple of groups in L.A. but I missed doing Vixen, I missed these girls. We tossed the idea around and here we are." (Original bassist Share Pedersen, now in the band Bubble, declined to participate, and Holloway, who'd played with Kuehnemund, was recruited.) "It feels right, the crowd's ready for it," Petrucci says of the timing of the reunion, which will extend to a new album post-tour. For more on that plus comments about Vixen's breakup, reunion and career highlights, watch for our video interview this week.

News from MetalEdgeOnline.com :
Vixen broke up in 1992, but three of the four members are reuniting for a
summer tour (bassist Share Pederson has her own band, Bubble, in which
she sings lead and plays guitar, and is not participating ; Pat Holloway
will play bass).
"The rock scene has been faceless for a while. The
audience has missed the rock 'n' roll show. Back in the '80s you
knew exactly who was who. It's missed, the climate is right for it now.
The time has come. People want it. Otherwise we wouldn't be touring,"
says drummer Roxy Petrucci, who got together a few months ago with guitarist
Jan Kuehnemund and singer Janet Gardner after Kuehnemund called them.
From that time, "It was like we never stopped. That common thread you have, the love of music, the love of rock 'n' roll,
the love of playing on stage--we all had it and we still have it." Petrucci says she doesn't remember the reason why Vixen split,
but too much of a good thing contributed to it. "We were on the road forever and you get tired of each other after a while.
We needed a break. But a lot of good things came from that time off. Most importantly it was really humbling, and I think it
makes us appreciate the one in a million chance that so many bands die for. We just got a little taste of it but we're ready
to take it to a new level," she says, outlining plans to play Europe and Japan in the fall and record an album after that. Though
they live in different states, the members have been e-mailing lyrics back and forth.
"We see the opportunity to be a frontrunner and take this farther than the first time around, bigger and better than ever.
We want to see how far we can take this. I think the atmosphere is right for it."
Note that no mention is made of the 97/98 reunion, however they are not completely disregarding that period, as they should be playing a couple of songs from Tangerine on the upcoming tour.
May 13th 2001
Vixen are scheduled to appear on The Tour Bus on June 2nd (radio show & on the internet). See www.thetourbus.com

Brent Muscat has left Bubble (even though he said he wouldn't!) to go on tour with Faster Pussycat and also to "pursue other musical endeavours". Bubble are not able to wait for him to return from the FP tour, and so will continue without him, but the split is amicable.
Tangerine has recently been rereleased on Sanctuary Records. See here for details.
April 12th 2001
There is to be a Vixen reunion with Janet, Roxy & Jan involved. More details to follow soon.
March 29th 2001 The new Bubble bass player is Tad Dery. See opposite for the new line up. Recording of the new album continues, look for a summer release. Some song titles are "Easier", "Super Psycho", "Nice One", "Bad", "Black Hole", "Naked", "Days Like These" and a cover of the Carpenters "Superstar". Brent Muscat will be involved in a Faster Pussycat reunion, but this will not affect his status in Bubble, which is the number one priority. Janet got married last year, but there's no news of any musical activity from her. |
